June 19 2007 At ASR Getting Some Body Work Done.
I had to do some body upgrades, but only a few to be ready for the Super Lap Battle Qualifying at WSIR.
Widebody rear section since the new 275 tires didn't fit under the body:), since the 5/8" spacers pushed it
out too much, plus I needed to do something with the front to prevent the intercooler from cracking open again
from body roll.
What flustrated me at the event is that I had one of my vacuum lines melted shut at the track so the car was
running like crap. It was 129F out there... yay. If you used more than 40% throttle it would boost up to 1000psi so we knew something was
wrong. I also had a new suspension setup on the car from KSport, which I found out was way too soft (600lbs Front/Back)
to the level that the car would lean over so much in turns that the body would rub the slicks. I am sure the car
could have run below 1:29 with Jim, but not in this condition. We still qualified for the finals, but I had to send the
car off again to UMS Tuning to find out what's wrong with the car... They found the melted lines and replaced
it with steel tubing, but I missed out on the finals... next time...
